Winter skin care for babies

Well it’s a new year, and we again have the opportunity to take better care of ourselves and those we love. This time of year, our skin becomes extremely delicate, but that’s even truer for new babies. Their skin is as delicate as it comes.

There are a few products out there for babies that really get a boost from the natural world. Here are some of the ingredients you should be looking for when it comes to selecting a good product for your precious little one.

Baby cleansers

Let’s face it. New babies don’t get that dirty. It is very important not to use harsh soap on their gentle skin. Castile soap is the gentlest form of soap there is and is also naturally tear-free. This makes a perfect bath-time wash for our little bundle. Also, you will love that castile doesn’t strip natural oils, so baby won’t have to try so hard to stay hydrated.

Baby moisturizers

This time of year can really be hard on baby skin because the air is so dry. In Wisconsin, moisture is key. Again, baby skin is delicate, and it only needs very simple ingredients to be happy. Olive oil is a great natural humectant. It wicks natural moisture in the air to our skin. This makes olive oil perfect for helping protect baby from getting too dry. Olive oil moisturizer is also great for doing baby massage. Not only does this moisturize the skin, but allows you and your child to bond.

Cocoa butter is an excellent moisturizer for babies as well. It leaves them feeling silky and has been known to effectively help in reducing cradle cap. A little cocoa butter in a bath will coat baby and leave them hydrated.

Diaper rash ointment

The main ingredient in diaper rash ointment is zinc oxide. It is a natural mineral that is water-resistant, making it great for forming a barrier between your baby’s soft bottom and a damp diaper.

Chick pea and plantain leaf powders are also known anti-viral, anti-fungal ingredients. It is said that these ingredients can help to prevent yeast infections. This makes them great, natural ingredients for diaper ointment.

There you have it: a simple menu of ingredients that will leave baby wiggly and giggly this January. Now you can spend the rest of your time playing with your new bundle of joy. Welcome to the world, little one!
