Homeopathic remedies for springtime relief

Spring is here! The trees are budding, the grass is starting to green up, the birds are singing and it won’t be long before we see the first blooms of daffodils and tulips. For many this is a time of rejuvenation and return to outdoor activity. Unless you are one of the unfortunate people who suffer from springtime allergies! These lovely signs of spring often send you back inside instead of basking in the return of the sunshine. For those suffering from allergies, spring brings on watery and itchy eyes, scratchy throat, sneezing, congestion, haziness or even asthma.

Common approaches are to use over the counter and prescription antihistamines or avoidance of the common triggers. No one wants to avoid spring and over the counter medications can have side effects. If you haven’t given homeopathy a try, applying homeopathy for allergies is a great approach! Homeopathy acts on an energetic level, therefore it has a broad effect, shifting mental, emotional and physical symptoms in a positive direction. Homeopathy helps by increasing the individual’s strength and resistance.

Homeopathy can be applied two different ways for allergy relief. The first is to utilize commonly used homeopathic remedies for allergies. These can be found at local health food and drug stores such as The Free Market, Red Radish, Natural Healthy Concepts and allergy combination remedies can even be found at Festival Foods and Walgreens! Hylands homeopathic company even makes special formulas for children. Common historical homeopathic remedies for allergy use include: apis, natrum muriaticum, allium cepa, euphrasia, sabadilla, nus vomica, pulsatilla and histamine.

How is this applied?

Homeopathic remedies are made in FDA-regulated pharmacies according to strict guidelines for purity. They are “all natural” because they are made from single substances in nature such as plants and minerals. Homeopathic theory and application can be summed up with the Latin phrase, “similia similibus curentur,” which translates to “let similar things take care of similar things.” This is where the common homeopathic phrase, “let like cure like” comes from. Therefore, the symptoms that can occur when exposed to a substance and curative in an illness with similar symptoms. Allium cepa is red onion. It is common when cutting red onion to experience watery, itchy eyes, sneezing and a scratchy throat. If one is experiencing these symptoms during an allergy attack, using the homeopathic preparation of allium cepa is a good choice. Any products purchased from your local health food or drug store will have indications and direction for use.

Allergies are so common that we may tend to think they are just a normal occurrence. In actuality, allergies are an abnormal response of the immune system. Mayo Clinic describes: When you have allergies, your immune system makes antibodies that identify a particular allergen as harmful, even though it isn’t. In the realm of homeopathy, the homeopath views allergies as a pattern of stuck energy and the allergic symptoms as the body’s attempt to regain balance. The application of homeopathic remedies helps to stimulate the body’s own vitality to produce a healing result. Therefore, a second application of homeopathy for allergies is to consult a professional homeopath. Through a consultation, a professional homeopath will take a complete inventory of your symptoms and help provide guidance as to which homeopathic remedies could be useful for your concern. The homeopathic process addresses the root cause of allergies; and applying appropriate homeopathic remedies in that manner can bring about long-term healing from suffering. Homeopathy acts on an energetic level, therefore it has a broad effect, shifting mental, emotional and physical symptoms in a positive direction. Homeopathy helps by increasing the individuals strength and resistance.
