Happy New Year!

Well, 2013 has arrived, and for many of us that means we are embracing new beginnings. (Sounds better than committing to New Year’s resolutions, right?) January in Wisconsin is probably the perfect time to distract ourselves with missions of self-improvement. If you are seeking a healthier lifestyle in the New Year, you are certainly in the right place! What I’ve learned from this magazine’s helpful monthly content is this: If you are serious about making some changes in your life, get support, be realistic, keep an open mind, and don’t let yourself get discouraged!

Our country is kicking off 2013 by celebrating National Blood Donors Awareness Month. The American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) encourages you to learn more about the urgent need for blood and to become a regular donor. Consider these American Red Cross statistics: 1.) Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood! 2.) Five million patients receive blood in the U.S. in a year! 3.) One donation can save the lives of up to three people! I use exclamation points because these are quite impactful realities. Our authors have some great ideas to share with all of us who are in the continuous pursuit of a healthy mind, body and spirit.
