From our editor...

Autumn is a particularly nostalgic time for many. It begins in September with back-to-school feelings and jitters that I can personally recall in all my school days. Then comes the fall sports seasons, leaves changing, the weather getting cooler and childhood trick-or-treating being the social event of the year. The memories seem to be endless and pop up out of nowhere.

Looking back always holds a wistful quality. One second, it’s a happy reminiscence, a moment returned to life – then suddenly it turns pensive. In an instant, it becomes a reflective time, maybe even a bit sad.

Despite this yearning to go back at times, our history is important as it is. It’s where we learned lessons, when we met loved ones and built foundations in every sense of the word. We harbor our most precious moments in the past. But it’s also important to live in the present and look ahead to the future and all it will, and could, hold.

“I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.” —Alan Wilson Watts

Considering our health and wellness is a significant part of planning for our future — our mental and physical well-being in our hands. According to Ulness Health Insurance & Wellness, an integral part — health insurance — is changing. 2019 will bring with it a shift for us, the patients and consumers. To find out how they can educate and help you navigate your future, read their story on page 36.

Time flies and seasons pass. Memories are made without us realizing it at the time, and the unknown future is nothing short of exhilarating and scary. Look toward it with positivity and courage. Savor each moment!
