We’ve been thinking about a specific word here at Nature’s Pathways for quite some time. It’s relatively small, but has a huge impact on all who utter it, feel it and most importantly, spread it.

Positivity.

While we put the finishing touches on this magazine issue, the weather is that of a Wisconsinite’s dream: sunny and warm with a mild breeze. Things, and people, seem different today. Strangers are smiling and saying “hello” more readily. There’s an overwhelming and overall sense of gratitude for the day. Positivity is everywhere we look.

It’s intrinsic and enjoyable, so why does positivity ever leave us? Weather can be poor, times get tough and everyone has bad days. But with all of the small and large gestures of kindness and optimism around us, why do we focus on the negative?

“There is a magnificent, beautiful, wonderful painting in front of you! It is intricate, detailed, a painstaking labor of devotion and love! The colors are like no other, they swim and leap, they trickle and embellish! And yet you choose to fixate your eyes on the small fly which has landed on it! Why do you do such a thing?” —C. JoyBell C.

A good attitude and happy outlook can be our most valued confidants and partners. Let’s always strive to focus on and trust them.

We all love the feeling we have after receiving a massage. We are relaxed, our muscles are loose, and our pain/discomfort is gone. It’s a wonderful feeling, but often we dive back into life, and soon after, our bodies are all kinked back up. One of the things I like…
It won’t be long before yogis and yoga mats will adorn the lush grasses of Lake Farm Park. On July 23, the Madison Free to Breathe Yoga Challenge is bringing together all levels of yoga enthusiasts for an all-day team event that will benefit those touched by lung cancer. The…
Living the life you were meant to live. Being the person you were meant to be. These require us to not ignore our inner selves. We are not meant to live someone else’s life. It’s like trying to put a size 10 shoe into a size 7, it just won’t…
Dental care and oral hygiene are critical to your overall health. We are told over and over how important it is to visit your dentist every 6 months, brush twice per day and floss every day. But what happens when you need a filling, a crown, a root canal? These…
There’s so much buzz and focus on our physical health every day. This is absolutely valid and important, but is thought given to how our physical health is directly related to our spiritual health and vice versa? If we are unclear, toxic and run down physically how can our spiritual…
We are stardust becoming aware of itself in the form of ever growing evolving consciousness. We are each one of the many human beings becoming self-aware. This is a thought most do not have every day. As we hum along in our daily lives and routines in the 21st century…
“Grains are the seeds of certain plants, largely cereal grasses. Like all seeds, grain kernels are a marvel of nature, containing the potential of a whole new plant, patiently waiting its turn in the sun.” —WholeGrainCouncil.org I have been getting a lot of questions lately about trending ancient grains. So…
Floating simply sounds relaxing. The act of letting go of everyday stresses, taking time for oneself and immersing in a world set up solely for that purpose is nothing short of idyllic. The phenomenon has recently experienced a resurgence in the Midwest, bringing with it new research and high quality…
In 2012, a research proposal was submitted to the US Army Medical Research and Material Command (USAMRMC). In 2015, a $500,000, two-year research proposal was approved. The overall objective of the proposed study is to test the efficacy of neurogenic tremors evoked by TRE as an adjunctive treatment for stress…
An empowerment “empowers” us with a vision and a sense of what is possible! We actually become empowered to become the very best that we can be. We imagine a transformation that in reality is completely possible and in that way we become inspired to invest our time and energy…
When Stacey’s ten-year-old golden retriever started to show signs of joint pain, Stacey came to me for help. Max was becoming progressively slow getting up, and Stacey was really worried. Since she wanted to stay away from pharmaceuticals with potential side effects, I recommended some natural alternatives to help Max…
To balance protein and moisture levels in your hair you first need to know what levels you are working with. Protein levels in the hair are around 83-87 percent, while moisture levels are only around 3 percent. To maintain healthy hair, these levels need to be balanced and maintained. For…
