Happy Fourth of July!

The month filled with red, white and blue is here and we couldn’t feel more patriotic at Nature’s Pathways. While it’s not the official national anthem, “America the Beautiful” speaks to us; it reminds us how diverse but similar our landscapes and the people who fill our great states are, and how far we have come as a country:

“Oh beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain.

America! America! God shed His grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.

Oh beautiful for pilgrim feet,

Whose stern impassioned stress

A thoroughfare for freedom beat

Across the wilderness.

America! America! God mend thine every flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self-control,

Thy liberty in law.

Oh beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,

Who more than self their country loved,

And mercy more than life.

America! America! May God thy gold refine

Till all success be nobleness,

And every gain divine.

Oh Beautiful for patriot dream

That sees beyond the years

Thine alabaster cities gleam,

Undimmed by human tears.

America! America! God shed His grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.”

Reflexology isn’t just a glorified foot massage. According to Wikipedia, reflexology is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that…
Years ago I worked as a therapist in a residential treatment center for adolescents. The teens were placed in this therapeutic environment to address behavioral, mental health and alcohol/drug issues. Their home lives were usually scattered, chaotic and filled with abuse. Nobody taught them that running with scissors was dangerous…
The season is producing beautiful bok choy and other interesting Chinese veggies like chai sim. Be sure to try some of them. Pictured with this article is fresh baby bok choy used in a crudité with sour cream with muffalata to create a spicy dip. I would also recommend using…
If we really want to solve our human problems, we need to know exactly where they come from. We normally blame others or something else outside of our self for most of our difficulties. However, “we should understand that our problems do not exist outside of ourself, but are part…

In the Wisconsin summer there are many celebrations — many involving music. In fact, most are music events and some are the best the Midwest has to offer here in Madison. Every weekend has an event called the farmers market that is filled with food, baked goods and flowers, and…
If we truly want peace in our hearts and peace on this planet, we must end the trauma of rape for humanity. Nobody likes to confront the issues of rape and sexual assault. I get it. Rape is a weird, creepy issue that makes us uncomfortable. People ignore it for…
Waunakee’s location — just 13 miles north of Madison and 85 miles from Milwaukee — places Waunakee in close proximity to all major markets. “The only Waunakee in the world” is only minutes from: Highway 19 and 113, and Interstate I/90 and I/94 Dane County Regional Airport World class health…
When it comes to the health and nutrition industry, there are a lot of buzzwords. Descriptors like gluten-free, dairy-free and processed sugar-free are recurrent and understandably focus on the less than ideal components the food is without. But when it comes to the delicious dishes coming from the kitchen at…
How many times have you heard the phrase, “Go big or go home”? I can tell you, I have heard it more times than I can count. It has been shouted out at business building conferences, networking events, “change your life” conventions, success workshops, coaching classes, public speaking groups, etc.…
Holistic grooming is the practice of grooming your pet in a stress-free environment in order to provide optimal health for both body and mind. Starting off on the right paw! Puppy grooms are critical in developing trust between groomer and puppy. A puppy’s first groom should be between 3 and…
