Connections – Center-based Autism Treatment Providers

If you have a child with autism or know someone who does, it’s well known that therapy schedules take a toll on family life. Until recently, in the state of Wisconsin, the only option for intensive and non-intensive behavioral services was to have therapy done in-home. Fortunately, there is a new option available to families in the Fox Valley. Connections Center-based Autism Therapy Providers (Connections) opened its doors on February 1 of this year. Connections provides evidence-based ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) and AVB (Applied Verbal Behavior) therapy to children diagnosed with autism, Asperger’s syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS).

Center-based treatment is unlike any other treatment provided in the Fox Valley or surrounding areas. Children are brought to the center, where they acquire skills by being taught both individually and in a group, and also engage in social learning situations. To ensure children generalize skills learned at the center to the home environment and community, Connections has a generalization team that will conduct assessments, run programs, collect data, and provide parents with training and support so the children respond consistently across all environments.

It is the goal of Connections to be a comprehensive treatment facility. To achieve that goal, speech and occupational therapy will soon be offered at the center. Connections is committed to helping each child reach their greatest potential. By combining behavioral therapy (ABA) with speech and occupational therapy, the best result is achieved.

Both insurance and Katie Beckett waiver clients are accepted. Private pay options available.

Connections Staff

Jessica Meyer – center director/co-owner

Jessica is a 2006 graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, with a minor in language studies and an emphasis in applied behavior analysis. She has 1:1 and senior staff experience in both center-based and in-home environments, both being fluent in applied behavior analysis. With both experiences under her belt, she quickly discovered that center-based environments provided much more consistency and opportunity than in-home therapy environments. She is excited to share this success with many families in the Fox Valley.

Danette Locke – office manager/co-owner/parent of 8-year-old son with autism

As a parent, I helped open this center because I always wished there was something like it when my son was diagnosed; but there was nothing like it available in the whole state. After finding out Jessica had experience working at a center in Minnesota, we talked and both agreed there was a great need for a center in the Fox Valley. So we decided to team up and make it happen. I don’t know of any parent of a child with autism who would not appreciate being able to take their child to one place for ABA, speech and OT; it saves time running to appointments, frees up their schedule for other activities and provides privacy once again in your home. All this AND quality therapy – it’s a win-win!

Angela Wade – lead staff/board-certified behavior analyst

Angela graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2004 and went on to earn a master’s degree in behavior analysis and therapy at the Rehabilitation Institute at Southern Illinois University in 2006. She is a board certified behavior analyst, and is licensed in the state of Wisconsin. Because of her experience and expertise, she has a variance through the state to be a lead staff. Her experience started as a line therapist all the way to being part of important publications and presentations. She is also involved in professional organizations such as the Association for Behavior Analysis International, Wisconsin Association for Behavior Analysis and the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts.
